Our approach to helping people
Movement Based Training
Balance training is important for mobility, confidence and reducing risk of falls in conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
We have specific Vestibular Rehabilitation programs that can combine eye movements, head and neck control with balance to reduce dizziness and improve mobility, eye focus and concentration which is important in conditions such as concussion, brain injury, vestibular neuronitis, Multiple Sclerosis and various types of ataxia.
We have extensive training in the latest specific treatments for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) - the most common cause of dizziness. This means that if you suffer from dizziness, you are in the right place. We have experience in successfully treating all forms of BPPV from the most simple to the more complicated, and can also ensure any concerns or issues that need following up are communicated with your GP and specialist.
We have training many intensive techniques that can help relearn new movements such as arms and hand activities in stroke that can include sensory stimulation, part-practice, hand-on facilitation, task-specific training, and Constraint Induced Movement Therapy. We have had training from some of the world leaders in upper limb therapy.
We have specific hands-on treatments that can relieve pain and when used with specific complimentary exercises can help manage pain over the long term.
We provide gait retraining methods to help improve walking patterns and mobility related capacity and skills that are relevant to many people with Functional Neurological Disorders, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke and Parkinson's Disease.
Advanced Neuro Rehab prides itself on an eclectic view of movement training that draws upon the latest clinical and scientific evidence to suit your needs. We also try to develop the best combinations with other aspects of training such as progressive strengthening and cardiovascular fitness. We have been involved in teaching physiotherapists at postgraduate levels since the early 2000’s, and are always engaged in new innovative treatments and clinical research.

Progressive Strengthening
Strengthening is not just about weights, pulleys, sets and repetitions. It must have a purpose that relates to your entire rehabilitation program that can progress and adapt with time. Many conditions show evidence for strength training that include Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Cerebral Palsy and neuromuscular conditions like myositis. Sometimes it is important to increase strength, while at other times the aim is to maintain strength and limit preventable muscle weakness over time.

Cardiovascular Fitness
We understand that getting fit can be very challenging for people with neurological conditions. Fatigue, pain, weakness and motivation all need individual consideration. We have some innovative and practical ways to help you start and continue with a fitness program that can more likely work over the long term. We also have some specific fitness and exertion tests that are important for conditions such as concussion, migraine and chronic pain.
